Salmon served as the dean of Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Wisconsin. Born in Natchez, Mississippi, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of the South and a bachelor's degree in theology from Virginia Theological Seminary. In 1961, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Arkansas in The Episcopal Church. From 1990 to 2008, he served as bishop of the Diocese of South Carolina.〔(Speakers Profiles )〕 He is a noted conservative but has decided to remain in the Episcopal Church, unlike his former diocese.
